Tewkesbury Borough fails to keep track of money from developers
This means that while housing was built the promised community infrastructure, such as parks and sports pitches, were forgotten.
This has led to years of delay on projects including the cycle path to Gotherington, delayed various play parks on the Cleveland's and Homelands estates and as well as adding to delays to their community centres.
The loss of infrastructure is Borough wide scandal over many years. This failure to properly manage developers recently cost Stoke Orchard community nearly £65,000 after the developer demanded it’s contribution be returned after the deadline to upgrade a children's play area was missed. The Borough Council isn’t replacing the money, despite earning interest on the money as it sat in the banks instead of being spent where it was needed.
Following pressure from the Liberal Democrats an officer was recruited but the recent failures at Stoke Orchard prove what still remains to be done achieve a fair deal for residents. A Lib Dem led Council will prioritise community infrastructure, and deliver a process that holds developers to account.
