New road surface for Cleeve centre
The old surface suffered years of neglect, leaving it scared, broken, dangerous and full of exposed ironwork. Dozens of patch repairs left the heart of our village crumbling and caused damage to vehicles and risked injury to cyclists and motorbike riders.
Alex Hegenbarth, County Councillor for Bishop’s Cleeve division, said “I’m glad that we have finally got Church Road resurfaced. The road runs through the centre of our village and we deserve a village centre to be proud of, not a road that feels like we are driving over the surface of the moon.”
Originally scheduled for Christmas last year, the resurfacing was delayed to make sure local businesses weren’t impacted at the busiest time of year.
Alex added “One road down but plenty more to go, we will keep working hard to get more done.”
