Gloucestershire Liberal Democrats secure more money for our local communities
The amendments included £400,000 extra going into this year’s Road Safety Budget; £80,000 being secured for local communities to provide and re-stock grit bins in residential and rural areas; and £150,000 on two “spend to save” projects in Public Health and Children’s Services respectively.
The money for road safety will bring forward projects to help make the County’s worst hot-spots for serious collisions safer much more quickly than the Council had planned and the grit bin fund will enable local communities to be better prepared for severe weather events in the future.
The package of amendments also included plans to make it easier to walk in Gloucestershire, and supporting small local businesses at the same time by funding work to improve the pavements outside parades of shops.
