Conservatives vote against creating a transparent council

The Conservatives then voted to oppose the introduction of live streaming council meetings to the public, with council officers proposing a fully funded, efficient and secure way of webcasting council meetings.

Lib Dem Councillors proposed that the majority of the debate on the proposal be held in open Council for the residents and reporters to hear but ironically, Conservatives insisted all elements of the debate be heard in confidential session and so excluded the public from the debate.

Once the item was moved into confidential business the item was voted AGAINST by the majority of Conservative Councillors
Most Councils recognise the importance of allowing the public to see their council decision making and now webcast their meetings.

Tewkesbury Borough Council is the only Gloucestershire District Council still refusing to set out when it will webcast meetings
